FUTURES

FELLOWSHIP

A national gathering point for emerging accessibility leaders.
FUTURES at AccessFest is the annual, in-person convening of disabled, neurodivergent, and equity-deserving youth.

A smiling transit operator stands at the open door of a brightly wrapped AccessFest shuttle bus. She wears a navy uniform with a red-and-white striped scarf and round glasses, framed by a light ponytail.

FUTURES
@AccessFest

Following participation in the FUTURES program, fellows and alumni come together at AccessFest each year as a national touchpoint, to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and continue building the networks that support civic action, leadership, and community change.

WHAT IS FUTURES?

FUTURES is AccessNow’s flagship leadership program for emerging disabled, neurodivergent, and equity-deserving leaders. The program is rooted in:

  • Civic engagement and public leadership

  • Community building and peer connection

  • Exploration of identity, purpose, and lived experience

  • Supporting young people to create change in their communities

FUTURES is built to foster long-term leadership pathways and sustained community impact.

Leadership grows WITH connection

AccessFest serves as the annual civic stage for FUTURES, a space where relationships formed during the program are strengthened in person and extended nationally.

At FUTURES @ AccessFest, fellows and alumni:

  • Reconnect face-to-face with peers from across the country

  • Strengthen relationships beyond their original cohorts

  • Expand their networks within the accessibility and civic ecosystem

  • Engage with the broader AccessFest community
