The Icart Room
Louis Icart's Paris of the early 1900's was the uncontested international center of beauty and art. Opera was elegant to attend -- men and women dressed lavishly displaying the finest of jewelry and garments. The Moulin Rouge was the scene of beautiful displays and racy shows. Thus, Icart's Art Deco world was a period of perfection of workmanship; he surrounded himself with rich materials, fine furniture and the luxury with which he lived linked him to the palatial spirit of the times. His etchings and other art reflect this period.
