Steve Cook -bandleader, songwriter, singer, and guitarist- describes his music as "conscious music." His compositions are powerful and uplifting with a positive message. Since Steve and the Band have never been content to settle on one kind of music, they draw from and weave their way through many different musical and ethnic styles including Rock, R & B, World Beat, Reggae, Soul, Gospel, Celtic, and Latin. After hearing one of his songs, a friend claimed he could hear at least five different styles and ethnic influences all combining in one tune. There is always an emphasis on rhythm, so the music is fun and infectiously danceable. Lyrically there is a childlike playfulness with words and rhymes, an orientation towards spirituality and mysticism, political awareness and a sense of humor.

The Band's performances blend their original material with classic favorites from the 50's up to the present. The Band has been together for 15 years and performs regularly at concerts, clubs, and music festivals. They do both electric and acoustic performances.

Their current CD/Cassette release Deep Waters contains mostly original material that blends imaginative songwriting with excellent musicianship. It has received widespread acclaim.
